A 26th Birthday Request

The past 12 months have been full of laughter and tears
and too many blessings to track.
Which is why I am starting off next year
by making a difference, by giving back.

However I cannot do it alone
Plus, working together is best
Which is why I am writing to those I love
With a small birthday request

I turn 26 on November 26
and rather than dinner, drinks or another gift,
would you, instead, please consider
a $26 donation to a non-profit?

You can support your favorite cause,
or one that means something to me,
like the Humane Society of Broward
or the MS Society.

One supports homeless animals.
The other wants a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
As you know, my dog is a rescue,
and it's been 7 years since my Mom's diagnosis.

But, whatever you can spare is appreciated,
to whichever cause that touches your heart.
I just want to give to those who truly deserve it.
'Tis the season of giving, my friends. My birthday is only the start.
