The thrill of a thriller

I used to be SUPER into horror movies and scary stories when I was between the ages of 8-15. Not only did I stay up all night watching C and D grade slasher flicks (on top of the classics... duh), but I am fairly certain I have read 90% of RL Stein's published works.

Although I am not sure what caused me to so suddenly and completely age out of my macabre obsession, it is rekindled once a year around Halloween. With Jared away  on a business trip to New York this weekend, you can bet that my dog and I will be binge watching all of the cheesy horror classics of my childhood.

But the reason for this trip down Memory Lane (or Elm Street), is that today I came across a new-to-me podcast of macabre radio dramas that really rekindled my love of this genre. Fireside Mystery Theatre, from what In have experienced so far, is a mix of old and new dramatic radio plays and shortened retelling of spooky stories.

And, you know what? Listening to it while I completed my graphic design work amped up both my creativity AND my energy levels. Due to the nature of some of my projects, the design work can, at times, become a bit monotonous, but with three ebb and flow of dramatic tension, my emotions and adrenaline flowed right along with that story. As a severe coffee addict, I was pleasantly surprised at how this kept my energy up (I even skipped a cup o Joe because of this)!

Plus, the art of LISTENING to these radio dramas does truly stimulate the imagination. No creator's block for this Digital Marketer.

If the "benefits" of listening to this podcast endure, fantastic. If not, I at least found a new show that entertains me on my commute.

Stay spooky, my friends!
